Medical
Plan
For travellers aged 59 years and younger, this Plan provides coverage for expenses incurred as a result of a medical emergency after you leave your province/territory of residence. Medical coverage is essential because provincial/territorial health insurance plans and other insurance plans only partially cover emergency accident and sickness costs when travelling.
Benefits include:
Exclusive Travel Guard Benefits:
-
Livetravel - 24/7 emergency travel assistance hotline for rebooking flights, making hotel reservations and solving virtually any travel-related problems
-
The Fairness Principle - All disputed claims are sent to a mediator for review and we honour the mediator's decision.
Travel insurance is designed to cover losses arising from sudden and unforeseeable circumstances. It is important that you read and understand your Policy
before you travel as your coverage may be subject to certain limitations and exclusions. Exclusions apply to injury, sickness, accident, medical conditions and /or symptoms that exist prior to your trip.
The Medical Declaration forms part of this Policy. Please read and sign at time of purchase as it must be submitted in the event of a claim. In the event of an accident, injury, or sickness, your medical history will be obtained and reviewed when a claim is reported under this Policy. You must authorize release of any medical information required to process your claim by signing the Medical Declaration.
You must notify us at 416-621-0750 (collect) or 1-866-878-0192 within 24 hours of any emergency medical treatment or hospitalization. Failure to do so will result in your being responsible for 30% of any eligible expenses incurred unless your medical condition pre-vents you from calling. You must call as soon as medically possible or have someone call on your behalf.
Refer to Policy for complete details on benefits, conditions, limits and exclusions.
